MONDAY 15 OCTOBER 7.30pm *A Still Small Voice*
"A welcome repeat performance of the commissioned work which
launched the first Kingston Festival of the Voice in 2006.
Featuring multiple choirs under the baton of Simon Toyne, the
cantata recreates the story of the prophet Elijah hiding in the
cave, sheltering from wind, earthquake, and fire.  Shortlisted
for many prestigious awards, the work is an unmissable sonic
experience with choirs positioned all around the church..."

with Sam Evans as Elijah, Stephen Westrop on organ, and
Festival Director Benjamin Costello on piano.

WEEKEND OF 27/28 OCTOBER *Rejoice!*
As part of the liturgy at Ely Cathedral, conductor David Johnson
leads visiting choir Priory Voices in the first performance of
'Rejoice!'.  Commissioned as a surprise birthday present for
countertenor soloist Hedley Bates by his wife Daryl, 'Rejoice!'
is a setting of the famous words from Philippians:
"Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice.  Let your
moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand.  Be
careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and
supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known
unto God.  And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding,
shall keep your hearts and minds through Jesus Christ.
...whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest,
whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure,
whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good
report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think
on these things..."

Thank you for listening,

Antony Pitts
